Security heightened for Chinese officials across the Punjab

Lahore: The Punjab government, on Wednesday, announced plans to enhance the security of Chinese officials across the province. As per the Punjab Home Department, there are currently 3,355 Chinese officials working in various capacities across Punjab, for whom more than 11,225 security personnel are deployed.

The Home Department has assured comprehensive security measures for all Chinese officials operating in Punjab.

e Karakoram highway in Bisham, resulting in the loss of five foreign nationals and one local citizen.

The District Inspector General (DIG) of Malakand informed the media that a suicide bomber targeted a convoy of foreign nationals traveling from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu, Shangla, by ramming an explosives-laden vehicle into it.

Initial reports indicate that the convoy, comprising a passenger vehicle transporting five foreigners and a driver from Islamabad to Dasu Dam, suffered casualties in the attack.

Following the blast, emergency response teams, including those from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) in Peshawar, were promptly dispatched to the site by authorities.

The injured and deceased were swiftly transported to the nearest hospital for urgent medical attention.

In response to this tragic incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Chinese embassy to express condolences over the loss of five Chinese nationals in the terrorist attack.

He assured the Chinese authorities of a thorough and expedited investigation into the attack, promising to hold the perpetrators and their accomplices accountable. The Prime Minister also conveyed his condolences to the Chinese President and Premier.
