Rainfall wreaked havoc across various parts of Balochistan, leading to devastating flash floods that affected several districts of the southwestern province. Harnai and nearby areas experienced flooding in local rivers and streams, resulting in severed land links with several regions.

Traffic remained disrupted on the Harnai-Quetta-Punjab highway for the fourth consecutive day. Additionally, flooding damaged railway tracks, halting railway traffic on the Sibi-Harnai railway se

ction for the second day. Railway officials initiated repair work on the tracks to restore operations.

In Chagai district, vehicles carrying picnickers were swept away in floodwaters, though passengers managed to escape to nearby hills for safety. In Pishin, a breach developed in a local dam at Toba Kakari, prompting PDMA and irrigation department staff to reinforce it with earth filling after 48 years.

In Naseerabad district, floodwaters from the Nari River inundated Bala Nari, leading to the evacuation of local residents to safer locations and causing destruction to wheat crops in Mithri.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted further rainfall and continued flash floods in Balochistan. Despite the ongoing rains, the Meteorological Department predicts more precipitation until April 19.

In the past 24 hours, significant rainfall was recorded across various regions, including Quetta, Sibbi, Dalbandin, Zhob, Kalat, Sumingli, Barkhan, Lasbela, and Nokundi. Strong winds and gusty conditions were observed in Gwadar, Kech, Panjgur, and Turbat.

Responding to the situation, the Balochistan government declared a rain and urban flood emergency due to the continuous heavy rains that battered several districts of the province, resulting in casualties and injuries.
