In Washington, the US State Department has reiterated its stance to Afghanistan, emphasizing the country's obligation to deny sanctuary to terrorist groups, including al-Qaida, ISIS-K, and others.

During a press briefing, spokesperson Matthew Miller conveyed the US's unwavering commitment to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a base for terrorist activities and urged the Taliban to honor their counterterrorism promises to the global community.

Miller, addressi

ng ISIS-related inquiries, affirmed that the US has consistently concentrated on counterterrorism efforts since the current President assumed office, engaging independently and with allies to thwart global threats and weaken ISIS's influence.

He further noted that under the President's command, US forces executed a decisive operation in February 2022, eliminating ISIS leader Haji Abdullah.

Later in the year, another strategic airstrike in Kabul resulted in the death of al-Qaida's emir, Ayman al-Zawahiri. The US remains resolute in holding ISIS accountable and safeguarding against terrorist threats to the US and its allies.
